V01D, a combination of the word “void” and the number one, symbolizes the group’s journey toward success. The five-member K-pop boy group consists of Jo Juyeon, Kevin Park, Jung Jiseob, Song Uchan, and Shinnosuke. V01D debuted under IX Entertainment in 2026 with the release of their song “ROCKROCK.”
On October 19, the five-member K-pop boy group V01D released their second mini-album, YOUTHQUAKE. A combination of the words “youth” and “quake,” YOUTHQUAKE represents the powerful movement and change created by today’s youth. The album marks the beginning of a new chapter for the rising rookie group as they reflect on past experiences and anticipate what lies ahead.
The K-Nostalgia had the opportunity to speak with the members of V01D about YOUTHQUAKE, gaining insight into the album’s creative process and exploring the uncertainty, excitement, and heart-fluttering emotions of youth portrayed throughout their second mini-album.
” Rather than heading toward a predetermined ending, we hope our story will unfold naturally with each release and every new experience “
– V01D
Your new album, YOUTHQUAKE, opens with “memory,” followed by your title track, “Ending Credit.” What was the reasoning behind this track order, and how does it contribute to the overall message you want to convey through the album?
We felt that “Memory” was the perfect song to begin the new journey of this album. It tells the story of time that stood still before meeting someone, then begins to move again as you share your lives—and how that time together becomes a miracle in itself.
“Ending Credit” is about looking back on the past as if it were a film, while beginning a new story at the end of it. The title may suggest an ending, but to us, it feels more like a starting point as we move into the next chapter.
Through the album as a whole, we wanted to convey that even moments of uncertainty and doubt are part of youth, and that these experiences come together to make us who we are today. We hope this album captures our youth while also leaving listeners excited for the stories we’ll create next.

2. YOUTHQUAKE explores different aspects of youth. If each member had to choose the song that resonates with them the most, which song would they pick and why?
SONG UCHAN: I’d choose “Scream Out Now.” The drum rhythm is really fun, and I love the powerful melody. It’s a song with so much energy when you play it, which is why I especially enjoy it.
JUNG JISEOB: I’d pick “Memory.” The melody is beautiful, and I think the band’s sound really shines through. I especially love its refreshing feel and the way the instruments come together.
KEVIN PARK: My pick is “Ending Credit.” I imagine singing this song with our fans in a huge stadium someday, and I think it would be incredible. It’s a song that makes me picture a crowd singing together in one voice.
JO JUYEON: I’d choose “My Youth.” I think it really brings out the strengths of my vocals. I love being able to express the song’s energy and emotion through my voice.
SHINNOSUKE: I’d pick “Best Part.” I love the emotional melody, and the bass line is fun to play. It’s a song that lets me enjoy both its emotional atmosphere and the joy of performing.
Your B-side track, “memory,” captures the innocent and genuine emotions of a romantic first meeting. If each V01D member were in that situation, how would they react when meeting someone for the first time?
SONG UCHAN: I think I might come across as a little reserved and quiet at first. I tend to be shy around people I don’t know. But once we get closer, I joke around a lot, so you’ll see a different side of me.
SHINNOSUKE: I probably come across as reserved at first, and I actually am a little reserved. But once I start talking about something I’m interested in, I think you’ll see a much brighter side of me.
KEVIN PARK: I tend to be cheerful and outgoing, even with people I’ve just met. Meeting new people feels natural to me, so I’ll probably start the conversation or help everyone feel at ease.
JO JUYEON: I think I might seem shy at first. But once I get close to someone, I joke around a lot, so I can be quite different from how I was when we first met.
JUNG JISEOB: I think my first impression would be someone who’s a little reserved but polite. Once we get closer, I joke around a lot too, so you’ll see a different side of me from that first impression.
Your title track, “Ending Credit,” focuses on closing an old chapter and stepping into a new story alongside the people who have been with you along the way. Looking back on your journey so far, what has been your favorite memory or moment from a previous chapter?
One of our most memorable moments was V01D’s first solo concert. While preparing for the show, we were so focused on the performance itself that we hadn’t fully realized what it would mean to the people coming to see us. But seeing so many people show up and enjoy our music with us made us realize that what we do can be a truly meaningful experience for someone.
When we first started the band, we thought making good music and putting on great performances mattered most. Since that day, we’ve become much more aware of the people who look forward to our music and support us.
So that moment means more to us than simply having put on a successful show. It made us reflect on the music we want to create and the kind of band we want to become.
As V01D continues to grow and move beyond the different stages of youth, how do you think your musical style, message, and story will evolve in the future?
We want to keep growing as we discover V01D’s own identity. Right now, we see ourselves as being in the process of exploring different kinds of music and finding the sounds and ways of expressing ourselves that suit us best.
Musically, we want to bring together the emotion of our melodies and the energy of our band sound to create something people can instantly recognize as V01D. At the same time, we want to keep trying new things rather than staying with our current style.
We think our message will naturally broaden as we go through life. Right now, we’re talking about the uncertainty of youth, feeling lost, growing, and the importance of the people around us. As we move forward, more of the changes and experiences we actually go through will find their way into our music.
Rather than heading toward a predetermined ending, we hope our story will unfold naturally with each release and every new experience. When people listen to our music again years from now, we hope they’ll be able to feel what was in our hearts at that point in our lives.
You have previously discussed the meaning behind the name V01D. As you continue your journey toward becoming number one, what has the process of filling that void with the love and support of your fans been like?
To us, the name V01D means more than simply being empty. Emptiness can sometimes feel lonely or negative, but we also see it as a space that can be filled with something new.
Through our music, we want to create a space where people can set aside their worries and anxieties for a while. We also draw strength from our fans’ love and support, which helps us keep moving forward.
At first, we mainly wanted to give our fans comfort and energy. But as we continue our journey, we’ve realized how much strength we receive from them, too. Being able to have a positive impact on each other means so much to us.
When we talk about being “the best,” we don’t just mean rankings. Our goal is to become the most special band to the people who love our music, and a band our fans can feel proud to support.
7. What was it like filming the music videos for “Ending Credit” and “My Youth”? Were there any particularly memorable moments behind the scenes?
What was it like filming the music videos for “Ending Credit” and “My Youth”? Were there any particularly memorable moments behind the scenes?
The scenes we filmed in the cornfield for the “Ending Credit” music video were especially memorable. The scenery was stunning, and it personally reminded me of the film Interstellar. The atmosphere of the location left a strong impression on me, so I think it will stay with me for a long time.
For “My Youth,” we spent a lot of time filming at a school. Being there naturally brought back memories of our school days, and the familiar surroundings helped us feel comfortable during the shoot.
It was also interesting how the two music videos had such different moods. “Ending Credit” brings to mind the time we’ve shared so far and the new story that lies ahead, while “My Youth” expresses the energy of living your youth on your own terms, even amid everyday worries.
It was a meaningful experience to bring the music and visuals of each song together to show different sides of youth.
In the music video for “Ending Credit,” the members embark on a road trip into the next chapter of their youth. If each member had a role in this road trip, what would it be? For example, who would be the best at navigating, and who would be most likely to take the lead on an unexpected adventure?
If we imagine the five of us taking a trip together, we think we’d each have quite a different role.
UCHAN would probably plan the trip and organize the itinerary. He usually likes to plan and prepare, so he’d likely make sure we had everything we needed before we left.
JISEOB would probably be the one to calmly sort things out if something unexpected happened. He might quietly take in the situation at first, but he’d offer practical help when we needed it.
KEVIN would keep the mood bright. Even if we got a little lost or our plans went off track, he’d take it in stride and turn those moments into fun memories.
JUYEON would probably be the first to suggest checking out a new place or joining in when something fun came up. He’d embrace anything unplanned as a new experience and bring extra energy to the trip.
SHINNOSUKE would probably keep his own pace throughout the trip. He’d enjoy the atmosphere by listening to music or taking his time looking around.
Of course, things might turn out differently once we actually went on a trip. Still, with all five of us together, we think it would leave us with fun memories, whether everything went according to plan or turned into an unexpected adventure.
Shinnosuke, you previously expressed an interest in writing song lyrics. Were you able to contribute to the songwriting process for YOUTHQUAKE? If so, what was that experience like?
According to the album’s official credits, SHINNOSUKE contributed to the composition rather than the lyrics. He is credited as a composer on “Memory,” “Ending Credit,” “My Youth,” “Scream Out Now,” and “Best Part.”
I think it’s important for V01D’s members to be directly involved in creating our music. Understanding a song as an instrumentalist and contributing ideas as it takes shape are two different experiences.
Writing lyrics is another way to tell stories through music, so it would be interesting to see Shinnosuke express his thoughts through lyrics in the future as well. I hope the experience he gained from this album will provide a strong foundation for his future creative work.
Did any other V01D members contribute to the creative process behind YOUTHQUAKE? Could you share a little about how the album came together?
Yes, several members took part in writing lyrics and composing songs for this album.
I contributed to the lyrics for “Memory,” “Ending Credit,” “My Youth,” and “Best Part,” and also helped compose several tracks, including “Scream Out Now.” KEVIN and SHINNOSUKE also contributed to the composition of several songs, and KEVIN is credited as a lyricist on “Ending Credit” as well.
Of course, we completed the album with the help of various songwriters and producers. Their ideas and expertise helped shape the songs into what they are today.
For us, this album was an opportunity to go a step beyond performing finished songs—to take part in creating the music and bring V01D’s own story into it.
We want to continue collaborating with different people and share songs that reflect more of the members’ musical ideas and individual personalities.
On a road trip, who would be the most likely to…
Get lost?
The member most likely to get lost — KEVIN
The other members seem like they’d be pretty good at finding their way, so if we had to pick one person, it would be Kevin. Of course, it’s just a playful choice—we’re not saying he actually gets lost easily.
Forget something important?
The member most likely to forget something important — KEVIN
There are so many things to pack for a trip. We picked KEVIN as the member who might forget one of them.
Go off on an unexpected adventure?
The member most likely to go on an unplanned adventure — JUYEON
If something unexpectedly fun came up, he’d probably change the plans for a while and try something new.
Be the most prepared and organized?
The most prepared and organized member — UCHAN
I usually like to plan ahead and prepare in advance. If we went on a trip, I’d want to organize the itinerary and everything we’d need beforehand.
Stay up late or wake up early?
The member most likely to stay up late or wake up early — SHINNOSUKE
Out of the five of us, we picked SHINNOSUKE. On a trip, he might end up following a different schedule from the rest of us.
What are some habits or mannerisms the members of V01D have picked up from one another?
I tend to plan ahead and stay active in my daily life. As we spend more time working together, I think the other members are gradually becoming more organized, too.
Some members have recently started working out as well. I like that we’re having a positive influence on each other, both in music practice and in our everyday lives.
Being in a band means spending a lot of time together, so we naturally get to know each other’s routines. Even if we started out with different lifestyles, we seem to pick up good habits from one another along the way. We hope to keep encouraging each other and growing together, both in music and in our daily lives.
What is one way the members of V01D like to celebrate their achievements together?
We usually get together at a Korean barbecue restaurant after a show.
Over a meal, we talk a lot about that day’s performance. We share our thoughts on what went well, what could have been better, and how we can improve next time.
Once the show is over, we can relax, and the emotions we felt onstage are still fresh, so the conversation tends to flow naturally.
It’s a chance to celebrate over good food, but also to exchange ideas that help us prepare for the next show. We think those conversations gradually help us become a better team.
What has been one of the most heartfelt moments you have shared with your fans?
Our first solo concert really stands out to me. It felt incredibly special to know that people had taken the time to come hear our music live and share that energy with us onstage.
When we’re writing music and rehearsing, we tend to focus on what we’re creating. But meeting our fans at a show makes me realize that our music has truly reached someone.
I’m grateful that our songs can become a happy memory for someone, or music they want to hear again. That has made me even more determined to give our fans better music and performances in return for their support. I want to keep creating more moments with our fans and hold on to the way I feel now for a long time.
What is one of your favorite memories from your youth so far?
For me, starting to pursue a new dream through music and becoming part of V01D is a special memory. There were moments when I wondered if it was too late to pursue that dream. But once I started, I began doing things I’d never experienced before, one step at a time. Performing onstage, creating new music, and bringing something to life with the members—every part of that process is precious to me.
Of course, I don’t always feel certain. Sometimes I worry about what lies ahead, and things don’t always go as well as I’d hoped. But I believe those moments are also part of what makes me who I am today.
So when I look back on this time someday, I hope what I treasure most will be the fact that I took real steps toward my dream, rather than just how things turned out.
What message would you like to share with people who are currently experiencing their own journey through youth?
When we think of youth, we often picture bright, beautiful moments. But I think it also comes with plenty of anxiety, feeling lost, and wondering whether you’re heading in the right direction.
I believe those moments are part of youth, too. Even if you can’t find the answers right away, the things you learn through uncertainty and challenges can eventually help you find your own path.
Rather than comparing your pace to someone else’s, I hope you’ll remember what matters to you. Even if you take a few detours, that time still has meaning if you’re choosing your own path and learning along the way.
We’re still growing as V01D, too. We hope our music can offer a little comfort to people navigating their own youth and give them the strength to keep moving forward.
Which Korean artist did each of you admire the most while growing up? Is there a song by that artist that you would recommend to The K-Nostalgia community?
SONG UCHAN: I’d like to recommend “Take Me Now” by FTISLAND. Its energy and intensity really stand out. It captures the power of band music, which is why I’d love for people to hear it.
JUNG JISEOB: I’d recommend “멸종위기사랑” by Lee Chanhyuk. Its distinctive musical identity and expressive style really stand out. I think it captures the appeal of an artist carving out his own style.
KEVIN PARK: I’d like to recommend “Beautiful Life” by Xdinary Heroes. I love its band sound and atmosphere, and I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys K-band music.
JO JUYEON: I’d recommend “Drowning” by WOODZ. The emotionally powerful vocals and the way the song builds are really impressive. It has a way of drawing you completely into the music.
SHINNOSUKE: I’d like to recommend “NO PAIN” by Silica Gel. Its distinctive sound really brings out the band’s personality. I’d recommend it to anyone looking to explore a different side of band music.
Finally, what message would you like to share with both new fans and those who have been supporting V01D since the beginning?
First, to anyone who’s just discovered V01D, we hope you’ll give our music a listen and enjoy it in your own way. We’d love for you to gradually get to know who we are and the stories we want to tell through our music.
And to the fans who have been with us since our debut, we want to say a heartfelt thank you. Your belief and support mean so much to us as we continue to grow.
We want to keep making new music, putting on better performances, and growing along the way. We hope that, even as time passes, listening to V01D’s music will bring back memories of the moments we’ve shared and give you strength on difficult days.
To us, our fans are more than people who listen to our music—you’re an important part of creating V01D’s story together. We hope to keep making great music and wonderful memories with you for a long time. Thank you.
